She definitely is kind of great, and I grossly exaggerated (on purpose) any dislike I might garner towards her in my previous comment. The thing is, she should just attempt a different acting style sometimes, because until now she's practically always this cold and frigid maternal figure. And you know, there's the fact that BSG developers seem to be currently making her character out to be the queen b*tch of the universe, so I guess any hate could be justifiable to some extent.

You should see McDonnell in "Mumford" for a different sort of role. I loved her in Grand Canyon, although that one's more of the typecasting you're talking about, a little. Still, she's got a commanding screen presence to be sure.

Wow that was her in Dances with Wolves? I spent so much time in her teepee back when I was 13 or 14 my indian name would have been "Man who shuffles knuckles". Who'd have thought she end up president of a rag tag group of etc.
